The island is sinking. Its adults are useless. Time for the kids to save the day. When the island of Proud Circle springs a leak, its citizens must find a way to stop their home from disappearing! It takes the wondering mind of a child to save the island, its people and their ways. Follow the story of You and Me and the Space Between next Thursday, March 28th at Walton Arts Center!

From the imagination of Finegan Kruckemeyer, one of Australia’s most accomplished children’s playwrights comes You and Me and the Space Between, a tale of wonder and invention. Storytelling, choreographed projections and live drawn animation explore the plight of refugees fleeing environmental change through the eyes of a child. Step inside a picture book with an artist and storyteller, amidst a paper set that’s cut, ripped, patched and manipulated live to create a world of play.

Finegan has had 89 commissioned plays performed on five continents and translated into eight languages. He has received 35 awards (at least one each year since 2002) including the 2017 Mickey Miners Lifetime Achievement Award (for services to international theatre for young audiences), the 2015 David Williamson Award for Excellence in Australian Playwrighting, and an inaugural Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship.

To date, Finegan’s plays have had seasons in: 200 international festivals; all Australian states/territories; eight US national tours; five UK national tours; and at the Sydney Opera House (six works), Scotland’s Imaginate Festival (four works), New York’s Lincoln Center for the Arts (three works), DC’s Kennedy Center for the Arts (three works), Ireland’s Abbey Theatre (two works) and Shanghai’s Malan Flower Theatre (two works).

Let your imagination run wild when you see You and Me and the Space Between live at Walton Arts Center! Tickets cost $9 for kids and $15 for adults.
